10 Romantic Movie Soundtracks

When watching any of the movies listed here, you can expect 10 romantic movie soundtracks. The soundtrack of a movie is as important as the movie itself. If the soundtrack of a movie is not in harmony with the actions of the actors, especially a romantic ones, then it may not be judged by moviegoers as a must see.   

  1. “West Side Story,” a 1961-updated version of Romeo and Juliet has one of the best romantic movie soundtracks. The soundtrack includes songs such as “I Feel Pretty,”  “Maria,” and “Somewhere,” if you have seen “West Side Story,” you will remember these beautiful songs.
  2. “Out of Africa,” a romantic drama that takes place in Kenya, Africa that earned best picture in 1985. Robert Redford and Meryl Streep star in this tale about an avid hunter and a Danish authoress. The soundtrack is beautiful and one that is remembered as a beautiful movie with a romantic movie soundtrack to match.
  3. “Dirty Dancing” is a 1987 movie featuring great dance moves and a romantic soundtrack. Patrick Swayze a dance instructor and Jennifer Grey a vacationer just happen to fall in love.
  4. “A Star is Born” is a 1976 romantic tale between an established rock star, Kris Kristofferson and an up and coming singer, Barbara Streistand. Included in the movie soundtrack are some beautiful songs such as “Evergreen,” “Watch Closely Now,” “I Believe in Love,” and “Lost inside of You.”
  5. “Grease” is a 1978 romantic musical set in the 50’s with Olivia Newton-John, who plays Sandy and John Travolta, who plays Danny. Although they met at the beach, they both attend Rydell High. Sandy and Danny fall in love and make beautiful music together. “Summer Nights” is one of the romantic movie hits from the soundtrack.
  6. “The Bodyguard” is one of those romantic movies that you want to watch a couple of times. The soundtrack is awesome. Whitney Houston’s voice is spectacular. Songs included in this movie are “I will always love you,” and “Run to You.”
  7. “The Way We Were” a 1973 classic with a very romantic movie soundtrack. Barbara Streisand and Robert Redford star in this spectacular Sydney Pollack movie. The hit song that became a hit was “The Way We Were,” sang by Barbara Streisand.
  8.  “Officer and a Gentleman” a 1982 romantic chick flick with Debra Winger and Richard Gere. The soundtrack includes “Up Where We Belong,” sung by Joe Cocker and Jennifer Warnes and the “Theme from An Officer and a Gentleman.”
  9. “Urban Cowboy” is a 1980 romantic country western that takes place in Houston, Texas with John Travolta as Bud and Debra Winger as Sissy. Bull riding and country music dancing contests surround this love story. The soundtrack includes the “Look What You’ve Done to Me Lyrics,” by Boz Scaggs.
  10. “Ghost” is a 1990 Academy Award winning film where Sam and Molly’s passion for one another cut short because of Sam’s demise.. Ghost featured a romantic movie soundtrack with both the Unchained Melody performed by the Righteou Brothers and the orchestral version.
