10 Hot Chick Flick Kisses

Thursday, April 28 by Jade Reilly

Romantic comedies, melodramas and tearjerkers are filled with unforgettable kisses, but these ten hot chick flick kisses are some of the most passionate and iconic on-screen kisses ever to come out of Hollywood. Unlike female characters in chick flicks of the earlier 20th century, that swooned for their men, the women in these films often initiate the action and confidently express their sexuality. These ten hot chick flick kisses feature strong and sexy women that are much more than objects of lust and desire.

  1. "Dirty Dancing." Baby (Jennifer Grey) seduces beloved badass Johnny Castle (Patrick Swayze) on the dance floor. Their slow and languid kissing reveals the deeper connection shared as they fall in love.
  2. "Ghost." Molly (Demi Moore) sculpts phallic pottery and her lover Sam (Patrick Swayze) can't keep his hands off of her. The hotness of this kiss is in the caresses that connect these two soul mates. The ways in which they trace each other's bodies makes the fact that he can't touch her once he's a ghost all the more heartbreaking.
  3. "William Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet." After the story's famous "balcony" scene, Juliet (Claire Danes) and Romeo (Leonardo DiCaprio) make out in the film's infamous pool scene. Forbidden love ignites passions between the most iconic star-crossed lovers of all time, rendering this chick flick kiss especially hot.
  4. "Titanic." Rose (Kate Winslet), sexually liberated well-beyond her era, convinces Jack (Leonardo DiCaprio) to get it on the backseat of a car stowed in the cargo deck of the ill-fated ship. Who could forget the hand that streaks the fogged-up window? The blockbuster success of this film makes this one of the most memorable chick flick kisses of all time.
  5. "Cruel Intentions." Kathryn (Sarah Michelle Gellar) mentors Cecile (Selma Blair) on how to get to first base in this chick flick's notoriously hot lesbian kiss, which also features an extreme close up of the tongue-on-tongue action between these two actresses.
  6. "Love and Basketball." Childhood best friends and college sweet hearts Monica (Sanaa Lathan) and Quincy (Omar Epps) play a game of strip-basketball in their college dorm room, in this especially hot chick flick kissing scene. The moment becomes meaningful when later, to win over the man she loves for good, Monica challenges Quincy to a one-on-one game in the driveway, to play for his heart.
  7. "Bridget Jones' Diary." The quirky Bridget Jones (Renee Zellweger) tears after the handsome and brooding Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), in the snow, in nothing but an overcoat, tank top and sexy undies. When she and Darcy finally share their hottest kiss, Bridget muses "nice guys don't kiss like that." Darcy responds, "Oh yes they f–king do."
  8. "The Notebook." As lovers cruelly separated by social class, time and circumstance, a rain-soaked Allie (Rachel McAdams) and Noah (Ryan Gosling) explode into each other's arms in this exceptionally hot chick flick kiss.
  9. "Atonement." Cecilia (Keira Knightley) and Robbie (James McAvoy) make love in a library-tryst. Their kissing, observed and then misunderstood by Cecilia's younger sister Briony (Saorise Ronan), forces a tragic separation of the lovers for which Briony atones the rest of her life.
  10. "Twilight" "Bella" (Kristen Stewart) persists that her vampire boyfriend Edward (Robert Pattinson) change her into a vampire. As they dance in a surreal, glowing gazebo, he prepares to bite her neck, and in so doing take her life and soul. At the last second, he fakes her out and kisses her instead. This is a classic hot chick flick moment.
