10 Best Romantic Movies 2007
There were plenty of good movies in 2007 for couples to see and some of the best romantic movies of 2007 provided quality entertainment for men and women alike. Whether a couple was looking for a good old fashioned love story or a fairy tale adventure, the year provided plenty of options for that specia date night.
“Atonement” Based on the novel by Ian McEwan and directed by the man who brought us “Pride & Prejudice,” “Atonement” is one of the best romantic movies of 2007. Kiera Knightley and James McAvoy play lovers whose lives are torn apart thanks to a misunderstanding by a young girl played by Saoirse Ronan.
“Juno” Ellen Page stars in this quirky independent movie, one of the best romantic movies of 2007. Page plays Juno, a teenage girl who gets pregnant and decides to offer her unborn child up for adoption. Michael Cera plays her boyfriend while Jason Bateman and Jennifer Garner play the adoptive parents.
“Once” While this Irish musical was made in 2006, it was not released into theaters until 2007 making it one of the best romantic movies of 2007. The movie follows two struggling musicians who eventually fall in love. The movie won the Oscar for Best Original Song.
“Away From Her” This heart wrenching love story is one of the best romantic movies of 2007. Julie Christie and Gordon Pinsent play an older, loving couple, whose lives are put to the test when Christie’s character develops Alzheimer’s disease and begins to lose all memories of her husband.
“Knocked Up” Seth Rogen stars in this Judd Apatow directed romantic comedy, one of the best romantic movies of 2007. Rogen is a slacker who ends up getting a hot girl pregnant. The two begin to test the waters of a real relationship as the due date grows near.
“Enchanted” In this charming live-action film, Amy Adams stars as a Disney princess swept into the real world of New York City in one of the best romantic movies of 2007. She meets a normal guy in the real world and realizes that her Prince might not be what she expected or hoped.
“P.S. I Love You” Gerard Butler stars as Gerry, a loving husband who dies suddenly of a brain tumor. Before his death, Gerry set up an elaborate plan to help his loving wife Holly, played by Hilary Swank, move on with her life and find happiness despite her loss.
“Across the Universe” Julie Taymor directs this musical with all the action based on and around the lyrics to songs by the Beatles. In one of the best romantic movies of 2007, Jude goes through a number of life-altering adventures before finally finding his true love, Lucy.
“Waitress” Keri Russell turns in a career defining performance as a waitress unhappy in her current relationship. In one of the best romantic movies of 2007, she begins to open up when she meets a new doctor, played by “Castle’s” Nathan Fillion. The movie is interesting in that, by the end, the waitress is able to finally make it on her own.
“Stardust” This movie, based on the novel by Neil Gaiman, is one of the best romantic movies of 2007. A young man promises to retrieve a fallen star for girl he is infatuated with. When the star turns into a beautiful woman, the young man sets out on a fairy tale adventure where he discovers what true love is all about.
