The movies discussed here easily fit the category of ten best romantic drama films. All ten of them feature great stories, memorable acting performances, and lots of romance. All ten even have beautiful and memorable musical scores, which only add to the romance.

  1. "An Affair to Remember." Charming performances by Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr in this old-fashioned, very romantic drama movie. A chance encounter on an ocean liner leads to love and an agreement to meet again in New York City at the top of the Empire State Building. But the plan goes awry….well watch the movie to find out what happens! The song "Our Love Affair" enhances the movie's charm.
  2. "Titanic." An ill-fated love affair aboard an ill-fated luxury ocean liner. A young girl accidentally meets the love of her life, even though she is making other plans. This romantic drama movie starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet has become a three-hanky romance classic.
  3. "Gone With the Wind." Sparks fly off the screen when Scarlett O'Hara (Vivien Leigh) and Rhett Butler (Clark Gable) appear together in this romantic drama movie. The viewer knows that they are destined to be together even if the couple themselves have trouble figuring it out. One of the best romantic dramas ever, this movie is set against a backdrop of the Civil War.
  4. "Ghost." Love that is stronger than death. Patrick Swayze plays a young husband who is murdered but comes back to be with his wife, played by Demi Moore. This is another romantic classic film.
  5. "Casablanca." A classic romantic drama movie where the characters and the dialogue have become iconic. Against a backdrop of World War II Morocco, a couple meet again, unexpectedly, at Rick's Place. Featuring fantastic, memorable performances by  Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman.
  6. "Wuthering Heights." The setting is the moors of England. A young wealthy girl falls for the handsome stable boy. This is a story of true love that is thwarted by circumstance.
  7. "From Here to Eternity." The setting is World War II on the island of Pearl Harbor right before the attack by the Japanese. Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr have an illicit love affair that includes a very sultry beach scene.
  8. "Somewhere in Time." This time travel movie has become something of a cult classic. What happens if your true love was born in another era? Christopher Reeve must travel back in time to reach her (played by Jane Seymour). This romantic drama movie is notable for its beautiful, haunting musical score.
  9. "Ryan's Daughter." A young married Irish woman has an affair with a British officer during World War I. Big production by filmmaker David Lean. Stars Robert Mitchum and Sara Miles. Great cinematography in this very romantic film makes you feel like you're right there in Ireland.
  10. "Dr. Zhivago." Lots of onscreen romance between Omar Sharif and Julie Christie in this romantic drama movie.
