  1. “Stop wearing your wishbone where your backbone ought to be” is from “Eat, Pray, Love.“ This movie provides some of the best chick flick quotes ever, if not quotes for life in general.
  2. “But you don’t have the balls." "I could grow some.”  is from a scene in “Whip It” starring Ellen Page where this shy young woman is deciding whether, or not, to try out for the roller derby team. Her mother wants her to be beauty pageant queen, and she wants to be roller derby queen. The thing is, she turns out to be an awesome roller derby queen.
  3. “There’s a word for you ladies, but it’s seldom used in high society, outside of a kennel,” is one of the best chick flick quotes thrown out by Joan Crawford in “The Women.”  It was made in 1939 and directed by George Cukor. Some things never change, like chicks’ conversations in the ladies room.  
  4. “I’ll play you." "For what?" "Your heart.”  This is the moment it comes down to in “Love and Basketball.”  One of the best chick flick quotes because she’s ready to put everything on the line for this love they’ve both had, the ups and downs, since they were kids. He doesn’t cut her any slack, either. 
  5. “Dear Diary, I’m writing in your bulls**t pages because my shrink is crazier that I am,” comes from the scene in “What Dreams May Come” where Annie is about to commit suicide. It stars Robin Williams and Annabella Sciorra. Williams has to go through Hell, literally, to get his wife’s soul back, or stay in Hell with her. The special  fx are astounding, and it received a 3.5 out of 4 stars from Roger Ebert.  Williams travels to Hell and back for the woman he loves. This is a chick’s idea of hardcore. A hardcore love story.   
  6. "My darling girl, when are you going to realize that being normal is not necessarily a virtue?" is one of the best chick flick quotes from the movie “Practical Magic."  It stars Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman in this classic witchy, chick flick.
  7. "He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same," is from another hardcore love story, “Wuthering Heights, ” the 1939 version. This isn't some rainbows and butterflies kind of love quote. It is a shocking, overwhelming realization. They are the same person. The depth of their love is tortuous and unexplainable.
  8. "I've waited my whole life to feel this miserable," is from “Hitch,” starring Will Smith. It's an absolutely charming and funny flick. The guy that knows how to get any woman ends up drawing a blank when it comes to his own romance.

"Sometimes I'm frightened that life will present a bill to Nicolo one day that he will find hard to pay," is one of the best chick flick quotes from “An Affair to Remember.” This quote is, of course, full of foreshadowing. The best version of this flick is the 1957 version with Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr. This film is at once witty and moving, but here's to true love triumphing over all, even ourselves.
  10. "You are in desperate need of Chanel," is from “Th Devil Wears Prada,” and its veritable buffet of best chick flick quotes. Anne Hathaway and Meryl Strepe deliver opposite yet equally superb performance in this fashion film.
