Get together with any group of movie lovers and you are bound to hear one or two "The Big Lebowski" quotes being thrown around. One of the best Jeff Bridges movies of all time, "The Big Lebowski" is one of those cult classics because of the other people who also put in some truly wonderful and hilarious performances.

  1. "Look, let me explain something to you. I'm not Mr. Lebowski. You're Mr. Lebowski. I'm the Dude. So that's what you call me. That or His Dudeness... Duder... or El Duderino, if, you know, you're not into the whole brevity thing." - This particular quote from "The Big Lebowski" is one of the best because it so shows you how "The Dude" lived his life.

  2. "The Dude abides" - This quote from "The Big Lebowski", like the first one in this list, is great because it tells you what you need to know about Bridges' character in this great flick.

  3. "It's down there somewhere, let me take another look" - This quote from "The Big Lebowski" takes place near the beginning of the film when two thug break into "The Dude's" apartment and start dunking his head in the toilet while asking him for money. 

  4. "That rug really tied the room together, did it not?" - This quote from "The Big Lebowski" tells you why "The Dude" and his friends go on their adventure. The lost rug is what sets everything into the motion.

  5. "No, Donny, these men are nihilists, there's nothing to be afraid of." - This part of the movie is when Walter, Donny and "The Dude" are accosted by the German kidnappers who have the wife of "The Big Lebowski."

  6. "Every time a rug is...micturated on in this city, I have to compensate the person?" - This is question "The Big Lebowski" asks of "The Dude" when he goes to ask for compensation after the men who were looking for "The Big Lebowski" pee on "The Dude's" rug.

  7. "Smoky this not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules." - Walter believes that the rules of bowling are sacrosanct and is even willing to pull a gun when he believes someone is cheating at his favorite sport.
