What About Bob Quotes

Most fans of the movie are quick to spout off their favorite "What About Bob" quotes. Starring Bill Murray and Richard Dreyfuss, this is a hilarious comedic romp when a successful psychiatrist tries to take a family vacation, only to discover he's been followed by one of his patients. If you love "What About Bob" quotes, you're sure to recognize some of these greats.

  1. A radical new therapy. Dr. Leo Marvin rants, "You think he's gone? He's not gone. That's the whole point! He's never gone!" He opens the door and there is Bob, asking "Is this some radical new therapy?" Dr. Marvin yells, "YOU SEE?" This is definitely one of the funnies parts in the movie and one of the best "What About Bob" quotes. A new alternative to Death therapy!
  2. Bob fakes Tourette's Syndrome. Bob spouts off a list of obscenities. "Why exactly are you doing this?" asks Dr. Marvin. "If I fake it, then I don't have it," Bob replies. It's cracked logic, but it works. It's also one of the best "What About Bob" quotes.
  3. Peace and quiet. Parents can most likely relate to some of the "What About Bob" quotes, like this one where Dr. Marvin says, "I want some peace and quiet!" Bob pipes up with "I'll be quiet" and Leo's son, Siggy, says "I'll be peace!" Those silly kids!
  4. Where's the bathroom? Have you ever been able to relate to this "What About Bob" quote? Bob Wiley gets worried and asks, "What if I'm looking for a bathroom, I can't find one and my bladder explodes?" Everyone's had that same fear once in a while.
  5. Two types of people. "There are two types of people in this world," Bob says. "Those who like Neil Diamond, and those who don't. My ex-wife loves him." Dr. Marvin pauses a moment and then asks, "I see. So, what you're saying is that even though you are an almost-paralyzed, multi-phobic personality who is in a constant state of panic, your wife did not leave you. You left her because she… liked Neil Diamond?" Divorced people are sure to relate to this funny "What About Bob" quote. People who like Neil Diamond might, too.
  6. Crazy enough to be fun. After Bob says he'll go away, Dr. Leo Marvin rants on in this funny "What About Bob" quote. "No you won't. You're just saying you will! But then, after I don't kill you, you'll show up again. And you'll do something else to make everyone in my life think you are wonderful and I'm a schmuck. But I'm not a schmuck, Bob, and I'm not going to let you breeze into town and take my family away from me, just because you're crazy enough to be fun." That's the best kind of crazy to be.
  7. Death therapy. Bob asks, "What are we doing?" Dr. Leo Marvin replies, "Death therapy, Bob. It's a guaranteed cure." This is one of those random "What About Bob" quotes that you can slip in to everyday life. You might want the Slamming Door therapy instead though.
  8. A poem. One of the best "What About Bob" quotes comes in the form of a poem. Bob says, "Roses are red, violets are blue. I'm a schizophrenic… and so am I!" Even sane people are guaranteed a giggle.
  9. Sex, Sex, Sex. Another great "What About Bob" quote comes in the form of another of Bob's funny stories. Telling a joke, Bob says, "The doctor draws two circles and says 'What do you see?' The guy says 'Sex.'" When everyone laughs, Bob continues, "So the doctor draws trees. 'What do you see?' The guy says, 'Sex.' The doctor draws a car, owl, 'Sex, sex, sex.' The doctor says to him, 'You are obsessed with sex.' He replies, 'Well you're the one drawing all the dirty pictures!'" We've all known someone like this. Feel free to tell the joke to your friends for some great laughs.

    Me

For a long time, I’ve been asking, and still want to know whether Bill Murray’s health took a big hit last winter. There’s been a lot of Bill Murray commotion lately, and I want to know why. He looks a far cry off from where he was two years ago, and there’s been a lot going on in his honor (i.e. the Bill Murray ep, film festivals, Charleston City Paper’s Bill Murray edition, etc.). It’s really got me kind of worried, because I am fan of Bill Murray and want to know what is going on. I don’t think that makes me mean, just human.
