Funny Movies Of The 2000s

Tuesday, April 12 by Irving Oala

There are many funny movies of the 2000s decade that garnered a lot of laughs from audiences, as well as a substantial amount of money. These comedies were of all ratings, ranging from kids movies to movies for all ages to movies for adults only. Whether these are some of the funniest comedy movies of all time is up for debate but they are certainly the best for the decade of the 2000s, a time where we all needed a good laugh.

  1. "Idiocracy." The critically panned but cult favorite "Idiocracy," from "Office Space" and "Beavis and Butthead" creator Mike Judge, is one of the funniest movies of the 2000s. It follows an everyday guy from our time who wakes up in the future where everyone is especially stupid. This only sort of makes sense because Luke Wilson is the star.
  2. "Team America: World Police." From Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the geniuses behind the epic animated "South Park" series, came "Team America: World Police" the incredibly offensive, hilarious and political puppet movie that covered everything going on in the heated political climate of America in the early 2000s. Everything these guys do is incredibly funny and it goes to another level when you add puppets.
  3. "Bad Santa." A drunken cursing criminal Santa Claus? How could that not be funny? "Bad Santa" is the ultimate anti-Christmas movie that still somehow has the Christmas spirit. It's the must see funny movie from the 2000s.
  4. "Wedding Crashers." A funny concept and even better execution by Vince Vaughn and Owen Wilson make this simple comedy a sleeper hit in 2005, helping it to become one of the funniest movies of the 2000s.
  5. "Tropic Thunder." Satire went to new levels with this war film meets Hollywood parody about actors who are sent to an actual war zone to try and make a movie. The cast of Ben Stiller, Robert Downey, Jr. (in blackface), Danny McBride, and Tom Cruise in a hilarious supporting role, is enough to make this a classic funny movie of the 2000s.
  6. "Napoleon Dynamite." This is an instant indie classic about a nerd who lives in Idaho and has a way of doing things all his own. Perhaps the most quoted funny movie of the 2000s, "Napoleon Dynamite" is a comedy phenomenon.
  7. "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy." Few films can keep people laughing the entire time, but the cast of Steve Carrell, Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd was nothing short of brilliant in this comedy about news anchors in the 70's. There was actually another entire film that was released on DVD that is an alternate story about Ron Burgundy that real fans should check out.
