Funniest Movies Of 2010
The funniest movies of 2010 aren’t all purely comedy films. This was a year when genres where mixed very freely and films had a hard time to find categories. Some of the funniest films of 2010 are in unexpected genres, including a western and a few action movies.
“Scott Pilgrim vs. The World” Choosing “Scott Pilgrim” as funniest movie of 2010 was really very easy. It’s about a young (Michael Cera) battling the former boyfriends of a girl he’s in love with. The humor is over the top and all the characters are very likeable. The fight scenes are particularly inspired and are actually somewhat similar to fights in anime movies
“Easy A” Emma Stone is fantastic in this 2010 comedy. It’s about the danger of letting your reputation get out of control in high school. A girl starts lying about sex experiences she never really had in order to make certain guys in school look better. Eventually, she realizes that her lies are catching up with her in a very negative way.
“True Grit” This western was one of the best movies of 2010 in any genre and it’s also one of the funniest films of 2010. The story deals with a young girl out to avenge her father;s death. She hires a grizzled Marshall played by Jeff Bridges to help her achieve her goals. Matt Damon plays a Texas Ranger who comes with them to help. Most of the film revolves around the group's travels and humorous interactions.
“Date Night” Most people will enjoy this wonderful 2010 comedy is about a couple trying to reinvigorate their marriage. They go out on a date and end up in a crazy adventure involving organized crime and spies. The film stars Steve Carrell and Tina Fey.
“Knight & Day” This is one of the 2010 comedy movies that really bends genres. It’s about a woman who goes on a date with a spy and ends up being entangled in intrigue. It stars Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz.
“Kick-Ass” If you enjoy action, you'll love this superhero movie, which was actually funnier than most comedy movies in 2010. The story is about a teen who decides to try being a superhero in real life. He finds that the profession has more danger than he expected. The teen is played by Aaron Johnson and the film also stars Nicolas Cage.
“The Other Guys” This was one of the more amusing comedies of 2010 with some nice performances. It’s about a couple of detectives who are trying to outshine some tough guy partners. It stars Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg.
“Get Him to the Greek” This was very smartly written compared to most other 2010 comedies. It’s about a guy from a record company trying to get a drug abusing rock star to travel from London to Los Angela so that he can perform. Jonah Hill and Russell Brand star.
“Hot Tub Time Machine” Like many of the funniest comedies of 2010, this is a genre bender. In this case, we’re mixing sci-fi with comedy as a bunch of guys get transported back in time while sitting in a hot tub. John Cusack and Rob Corddry star.
“She's Out of My League” There really weren’t too many great romantic comedies in 2010, but this was a solid entry. It’s a story about a regular looking guy who falls for an incredibly attractive girl. His lack of confidence and other problems end up causing issues in the relationship. Jay Baruchel plays the guy and Alice Eve is the girl.
