Best Romantic Comedy Movies For Men

Friday, April 8 by Rochelle Connery

If you're looking for a Valentine's Day movie that isn't super-sappy, try one of the best romantic comedy movies for men. Romantic comedies, a.k.a. romcoms, are the best way to watch a romance if you have to sit through a sappy love story. At least there's some comedic humor to temper out the sap!

  1. "Big Daddy" Sonny, played by Adam Sandler, can't hold down a job because he doesn't think he needs one. But he takes in his best friend's long-lost son as his own to impress a girl he wants to marry to show his responsibility. When the girl dumps him for a much older man, Sonny goes after a woman who truly has a heart of gold – and doesn't like wrinkly old guys.
  2. "Bruce Almighty"  Bruce is having trouble at work and in his love life. So Morgan Freeman shows up as "God" to give him a glimpse of what it's like to have everything "your way." But can Bruce make it through the ordeal without crossing the boundaries of free will in this best romantic comedy for men? Not likely – especially when his girlfriend is having second thoughts about his "God"-ship.
  3. "Mickey Blue Eyes"  Michael Felgate is about to marry into the mob, against his fiancee's wishes. But things don't seem so bad in this best romantic comedy when mob boss Frank Vitale takes him under his wing, until bodies hit the floor and Michael starts looking like the guilty one. Michael has a hard time keeping things afloat after his fiancee accidentally kills a man on their anniversary.
  4. "Meet the Parents"  You'll feel Gaylord Focker's pain when he tries to get his father-in-law-to-be to like him in one of the best romantic comedies. He starts doing irrational things to get into his graces after trashing his house and nearly ostracizing his fiancee. His FBI soon-to-be father-in-law encourages him to leave, then hauls him back to marry his daughter.
  5. "Groundhog Day"  Anchorman Phil replays every day over and over until he can properly woo the beautiful Rita – without dissing anyone else in the process. But he can't seem to leave his sarcasm behind, which is why he goes through Groundhog Day more times in a week than anyone should ever have to in a lifetime. After sleeping with Rita and realizing how much he can't live without her, he finally breaks his curse.
  6. "Hitch"  Hitch can help a fat guy get a date with a supermodel, but he can't seem to woo a beautiful writer who has ideas about romance that don't fit into his guidelines. Seems you're not the only one with girl trouble.
  7. "Fool's Gold"  Finn and Tess just got a divorce when they realize they need each other to search for one last treasure in the sea. They use a rich guy's yacht and recruit the help of the boat crew to fend off beach pirates searching for the same thing. They realize the divorce was all a mistake after they "do the deed" back at their old honeymoon spot.
  8. "The Bounty Hunter"  Milo Boyd and Nicole Hurley are a separated couple. But Nicole Hurley has a bail price on her head, and Milo's the best guy for the job. Convincing him to let her go doesn't work, so Nicole gets creative in plotting her escapes before he turns her in.
  9. "Th Devil Wears Prada"  Andy Sachs can't dress properly to save her life, but she sure can get the new Harry Potter books to her evil boss's daughters before their release date. This romantic comedy teaches that there are more important things in life than working for the Wicked Witch of the East.
  10. "Fever Pitch"  If your love life is suffering from your love of sports, get schooled about what happens to the girl in "Fever Pitch." You might think twice about turning your television on for next year's Superbowl.
