10 Funny Movie Posters

The top 10 funny movie posters of all time offer a glimpse into the movies they are advertising. But if you are unfamiliar with the movie, then the poster can be even more bizarre and effective. Check out these top ten funny movie posters of all time and maybe they will make you want to see the movie.

  1. "A Christmas Story" (1983) – If you have never seen "A Christmas Story" (1983), then its movie poster makes no sense. Leg lamps, bb guns and characters all walking in a strange manner make up this entry into the list of the top ten funny movie posters of all time.
  2. "National Lampoon's Vacation" (1983) – This is at the top of the list of top ten funny movie posters of all time. It is a little bit of "Star Wars" imagery and some Charlton Heston thrown in there as well. Chevy Chase is sporting serious muscles as he reaches as though he is holding his light sabre.
  3. "Year One" (2009) – Jack Black knows how to make a funny movie poster, and the simplicity of this one is what makes it one of the top ten funny movie posters of all time. Jack Black and Michael Cera in full caveman attire with Black's smirk and Cera's lost look are hilarious.
  4. "Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" (2007). This movie makes no apologies for ripping off the life story of Johnny Cash as seen in "Walk the Line" (2005). The poster is a direct rip-off of the famous picture of Doors lead singer Jim Morrison, but it looks funnier when John C. Reilly does it.
  5. "Tropic Thunder" (2008) – You would never know that the movie poster for "Tropic Thunder" (2008) features three guys that are some of the funniest actors of their generation. It tries to be serious, but the look on Robert Downey, Jr.'s face is priceless.
  6. "Tenacious D in The Pick of Destiny" (2006) – The movie is not great to look at, but the poster is. The images of Jack Black and Kyle Gass as two famous images of God makes this one of the top ten funny movie posters of all time.
  7. "The Rules of Attraction" (2002) – If you have never seen "The Rules of Attraction" (2002), then the poster will make you want to see it. There is something about a poster full of stuffed animals in sexual positions that make you wonder what the movie is about.
  8. "Ratatouille" (2007) – The poster for this Disney movie is not very Disney-like, but it is one of the top ten funny movie posters of all time. It is the main character, a rat, pinned to a kitchen door with kitchen knives as he is smiling at the audience. Disturbing, but funny.
  9. "Office Space" (1999) – Just about everything to do with this movie is funny, but the poster really sells it. If you have ever wanted to cover a co-worker in yellow sticky notes, then you will appreciate this poster.
  10. "Fred Claus" (2007) – Fred Claus (Vince Vaughn) is the brother of Santa Claus (Paul Giamatti) and they cannot stand each other. That may not sell the movie, but the poster picturing Vaughn riding a Big Wheel as Giamatti looks on in disgust will.
