  1. “Dr. Strangelove” This classic comedy from 1964 spoofs the Communist scare craze. Presidents, generals, and Russians are all presented as caricatures of themselves in this uproarious comedy.
  2. “Election” This funny black comedy movie takes high school student election to the extreme. Reese Witherspoon plays a neurotic candidate who will stop at nothing to become class president. Matthew Broderick stars as a teacher who finds his life quickly unraveling. The movie is irreverent, dark at times, and always funny.

  8. “The Royal Tenenbaums” This Wes Anderson film focuses on a highly dysfunctional family that reunites under its patriarch’s terminal illness. Despite the dark subject matter, the black comedy movie contains kooky and hilarious performances from Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, Bill Murray, and Gwyneth Paltrow.
  9. “Harold and Maude” A funny black comedy movie from the 1970’s, “Harold and Maude” tells the story of a young man who attempts to commit suicide, but instead embarks on a relationship with a woman old enough to be his grandmother. The movie is disturbing and heartwarming all at the same time.
