The top 5 anime movies of 2008 most of you have probably never heard of. Anime is a big business movie genre, but many of the movies never make it to the United States. The market here isn’t as big as it is in Japan, and even though Anime is huge in Japan, it hasn’t had that great of an impact here. However, if you have the opportunity and are interest in anime, check out these movies.

  1. “Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea”:Ponyo is a fish that is befriended by a young boy. She decides that she want to be human and live with the boy and the other humans. Ponyo is a magical fish with special powers. When she becomes human and leaves the sea it produces a void that threatens human existence. Together the young boy and Ponyo must set things right.
  2. “Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior”:Is based on the popular anime "Pocket Monsters" or "Pokémon." In this movie Giratina from the reverse world sets out to enter our world to destroy it. The reverse world takes in the pollution from the real world as it always has. Lately though, the poison has increased and threaten her world. A series of battles ensue to keep her from entering and destroying our world.
  3. “Doraemon: Nobita to Midori no Kyojin Den”:Is a movie about a family that falls back in time. To the time of the dinosaurs and how they make friends with one small and happy dinosaur named Doraemon. It follows the family as they learn to adapt to their new surroundings with the help of their new friends. One of the most critically acclaimed anime movies, ever.
  4. “Detective Conan: Full Score of Fear”:Someone is killing off all the music students in this anime move. Conan and his team are called in to poses as students and help stop the crimes. In a school of horrified students one wonders how Conan and his team can keep things cool and catch the killer.
  5. “Sand Chronicals”:Ann Uekusa is just your typical teenage girl living a wonderful life until divorce splits her perfect world apart. She is forced to move away with her mother to live on a small island away from the lavish life she has always known. The move however has brought new adventures and a boy who she has fallen in love with. Follow Ann as she comes of age and learns that there is more to life than material things.
