10 Great Animated Movies

Get in touch with your inner child with this list of 10 great animated movies. Animated movies aren’t just for kids. A couple of the animated movies on this list are meant for kids but are much loved by adults as well. Others are far from suitable for children.

  1. “How to Train Your Dragon”. If you need a movie to watch with children that won’t bore you to death, then this is the animated movie for you. “How to Train Your Dragon” is about a young Viking boy named Hiccup, who is struggling to fit in. Hiccup meets a dragon named Toothless and discovers some hidden secrets that will change life for the Vikings forever. It’s a fun movie that you’ll enjoy just as much as the kids.
  2. “A Nightmare before Christmas”. This movie by Tim Burton is one of the greatest animated movies of all time. The story is about Jack, the Pumpkin King of Halloweentown, who wants to show the world an improved version of Christmas. The animation in this movie was amazing and the plot is very original.
  3. “Th South Park Movie”. This movie is based odd of the popular TV series of the same name. This one is not one you want to watch with the kids. The South Park kids pick up some dirty words from a Canadian movie and their parents wage a war against Canada for corrupting their children.  The movie was great and can be followed by people who are not fans of the show.
  4. “Finding Nemo”. This is another adult-loved kid’s movie. It’s about a little clown fish named Nemo who gets separated from his dad. It’s a cute and fun movie and if you watch it enough, you might find yourself quoting the movie.
  5. “Fantasia”. Walt Disney’s iconic film is a series of animated shorts set to music. It’s a great movie that changed the face of animation forever. It can be watch with children and it will also blow your mind if you watch it after a little too much to drink.  
  6. “The Simpsons Movie”. This film is based off of the TV show and is rated PG 13. Homer tries to do something good by saving a pig from becoming fast food. Like they usually do Homer’s actions have strange consequences and soo the town of Springfield is covered by a giant dome by the EPA.
  7. “Heavy Metal”. This great animated movie is loosely based on the French magazine of the same name. It’s a series of animated shorts that center around the battle of good and evil. The stories are centered around a glowing green orb that is supposed to be the ultimate evil of the universe. This is another one that you’ll want to watch after the kids go to bed.
  8. “Iron Giant”. This movie comes from one of the creators of Pixar. It’s the story of a young boy who befriends a giant robot. It’s set in the 1950s and is one of the greatest science fiction movies ever.
  9. “Spirited Away”. This Japanese animated movie is simply a master piece. The story is of a young girl who has to journey through a fantasy realm to save her parents.   
  10. “Akira”. This movie is mainly responsible for bringing anime to the United States. It’s an amazing movie as well. It also has some of the best animated action scenes off all time.
