Movies With Women Heroes From The 90′s

This article will revisit some memorable movies with women heroes from the 90s. A heroine is know for her courage and bravery, especially in the face of danger. Check out this must-see list of 90s movies with women heroes.

  1.  "The Silence of The Lambs" (1991). Jodie Foster plays Clarice Starling, an FBI cadet in this multiple Oscar winning classic thriller. Clarice is given the special assignment of interviewing a brilliant imprisoned psychiatrist who is a serial killer, in order to get a psychological profile on a current serial killer. After succeeding, she is forced off of the case, but in the end, becomes the hero who tracks down and kills the serial killer.
  2. "Terminator 2: Judgment day" (1991). The muscle-bound hero of this movie is Sarah Conner, played by Linda Hamilton. Sarah is a single mother who is determined to teach her rebellious teenage son the art of war, so that he can stay one step ahead of the cyborg that has been sent back in time to kill him before he can prepare for his future mission of saving humanity.
  3. "The Next Karate Kid" (1994). Hillary Swank stars in this movie about a seventeen year old orphan girl. After losing her parents to an accident, and being bullied by her male classmates, the girl is taught the art of discipline and self worth by her tough karate instructor Myagi.
  4. "Fargo" (1996). The hero of this comedy/thriller is a very pregnant police chief, played by Frances McDormand. After a triple murder, Marge sets out to put the pieces of the clues together in order to bring the killer/killers to justice; which she does, almost single handedly. 
  5. "The Long Kiss Goodnight" (1996).  This action-packed movie is about an ex-government assassin. Gina Davis stars as Samantha Caine, a mother with scars and knife talents that she can't explain. After Samantha hires a private investigator to look into her past, they get more than they bargained for when hit men come after them, now Samantha must use her extraordinary heroi fighting abilities in order to get to the bottom of the chaos.
  6. "G.I. Jane" (1997). Lt. Jordan O'Neil (Demi Moore) is chosen to be a test case for women in combat in this Ridley Scott movie. After being sold out by a Senator played by Anne Bancroft, who is determined to see her fail, she is put through all kinds of unnecessary physical and mental torture, but emerges as a triumphant hero, to become a Navy Seal.
  7. "The fifth Element" (1997). This Luc Besson film takes place in the 23rd century and stars Milla Jovovich as the hero. Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) is a visitor from another world, who's physical body is the fifth element needed to prevent the destruction of earth. But Leeloo must stay on the run in order to complete her mission, because the evil Zorg (Gary Oldman) is out to capture her so that he can ensure earth's destruction.
  8. "Run Lola Run" (1998). This German thriller follows Lola (Franka Potenta) who has a small amount of time to save her boyfriend Manni's life. After Manni fouls up a simple smuggling job, his local criminal boss gives him twenty minutes to come up with the money. Now Lola becomes the hero and must run to her father's bank and get the money before Manni is killed. But when Lola gets to the bank she is turned down and time is running out.
  9. "The Bone Collector" (1999). It's the last day on the streets before being assigned to a desk for Officer Amelia Donaghy (Angelina Jolie). But after discovering a mutilated corpse, she becomes the eyes and ears of a quadriplegic detective, and together they try and track down a killer before he can strike again.
