These jungle adventure movies are set in exotic locations and contain action-filled plots. The heroes range from archeologists to mercenaries, and the villains include dinosaurs and giant apes. Watch these movies to feel like an exploring hero roaming the deep forests.

  1. “Raiders of the Lost Ark” A classic jungle adventure movie, this film stars Harrison Ford at Indiana Jones, the famed archeologist. He sets out to find the Ark of Covenant and along the way faces Nazis, booby-trapped temples, and snake pits. The two subsequent Indiana Jones sequels stand as great jungle adventure movies, while the newest installment “The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” does not compare, unfortunately.
  2. “Romancing the Stone” This jungle adventure movie stars Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner as a mismatched pair thrown together in the jungles of Colombia. Turner’s character is a meek romance writer, while Douglas is a mercenary who leads her through the perils of the jungle. The movie is action-packed and also contains romance as well.
  3. “King Kong” This classic jungle adventure movie revolves around a mysterious jungle island that houses the mighty King Kong. There are plenty of thrills in the forests of the island, and even more action when King Kong is transported from his jungle habitat to the skyscrapers of New York City. Watch the 1933 original or Peter Jackson’s 2005 remake with Adrien Brody and Naomi Watts.
  4. “Jurassic Park” A prehistoric jungle adventure movie, “Jurassic Park” appeals to the kid in all of us. The movie revolves around a wealthy entrepreneur who uses advanced science to breed live dinosaurs on an undisclosed island. Those who come for an early visit are in for a surprise when the security system goes down, and dinosaurs are free to roam where they please.
  5. “The African Queen” Humphrey Bogart and Katherine Hepburn team together for this classic jungle adventure movie. Bogart plays a steamboat driver navigating through the rivers of Africa during World War I. Hepburn plays a headstrong woman who convinces him to join in the war effort against the Germans.
  6. “The Jungle Book” In this live action adaptation of the classic Rudyard Kipling story, Jason Scott Lee stars as Mowgli, a child who was raised by wolves and is master of his jungle habitat in India. When English colonists introduce him to modern civilized life, he must choose between love or the jungle.
