James Bond Quotes: Agent 007 Gets Cheeky
There are many famous James Bond quotes from the hit franchise that is still going strong today. There have been 22 official James Bond movies, or 23 if you count “Never Say Never Again”, a 1983 Bond film that Sean Connery starred in after swearing he would never play the role again. Here are some of the more famous Bond quotes, all uttered by 007 himself.
“Bond, James Bond. ”This is easily the most famous James Bond quote. Many times, the actor playing Bond will instead say, “The name is Bond, James Bond,” and not the abbreviated version. Connery was the original Bond, and was the first to use the immortal line during 1962 in the first Bond movie “Dr. No”.
“Shaken, not stirred.” Another famous Bond quotes, Connery was the first Bond to say the line during the 1964 film “Goldfinger”. Bond is a notorious martini drinker, and he prefers his drink to be shaken. In the 2006 Bond film “Casino Royale”, the latest actor to portray 007 Daniel Craig had a different take on this classic quote. When a bartender asked him if he wanted the drink shaken or stirred, Craig’s Bond replied with, ”Do I look like I give a damn?”
“But of course you are.” This quote from the 1971 movie “Diamonds Are Forever” was a classic Connery comical moment. He was responding to actress Lana Wood’s character, who had introduced herself to Bond by saying, “Hi, I’m Plenty.” After Bond’s one liner, Plenty then said, “Plenty O’Toole,” to which Bond added, “Named after your father perhaps?”
“Shocking. Positively shocking.” Connery said this funny quote during the 1964 Bond film “Goldfinger”. Connery was speaking to no one in particular when he said the line. He was talking out loud to himself after having electrocuted a bad guy.
“Butterhook.” Roger Moore uttered this comical quote during his first appearance as Bond in the 1973 film “Live and Let Die”. Moore improvised the line which makes it even funnier. He was speaking to a villain who had a hook for a hand, as the thug was fumbling around while trying to remove Bond’s Rolex watch.
