The 5 best English action movies of 2008 have everything a fight fan and battle buff could ever want! Filled with explosions, beat downs and beauties, these epic visual stunners that are all sans subtitles are sure to quell the need for speedy car chases and violent vigilantes.

  1. The Dark Knight“ The second installment in the Batman series upstages the first with a high-stakes robbery, a terrifying fate for Batman’s love interest and an iconic portrayal of the Joker by Heath Ledger. Seriously, Ledger arguably gives the best volatile villain performance ever. This batty thrill ride earns its title of top action flick of 2008 and begs the question: How do you battle unadulterated chaos?
  2. Iron Man” Another comic-based movie takes the cake for one of the best action films of 2008. Robert Downey Jr. nails the role of Tony Stark, a cocky billionaire playboy who assembles at armored suit while he’s held hostage in Afghanistan. The suit enables him to fly, shoot flames from his arms and basically kick major butt.
  3. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” Indiana Jones returned to the big screen with an exciting and campy adventure that dabbled in the supernatural. Everyone’s favorite archaeologist is out to solve the mystery of the crystal skulls and he’s determined to get to the bottom of it—even if it means a high-speed motorcycle chase and tucking himself into a fridge that takes flight after it’s blasted into the air by a nuclear bomb test.
  4. “Wanted”This movie combines deadly thrills with the hubba-hubba factor thanks to a tattooed assassin played by Angelina Jolie. A secret society of assassins is out to recruit the son of one of their best … well, if he’s not murdered before they get to him. A car chase in the streets of Chicago and the ability to curve bullets around objects make this one fantastic and savage film.
  5. “Quantum of Solace” If you’re looking for action and suspense, it’s always a safe bet to bring on the Bond and “Quantum of Solace” is no exception. Daniel Craig plays a James Bond who’s out for revenge after his love interest is murdered. Expect a mysterious beauty, several explosions and bullet-riddled car chases in this 22nd James Bond film.
