Great movies are released every year and we await the arrival of their release on DVD, but which movies are the best movies released on DVD in 2010? If a little refresher is needed on this particular year, below is a list of the ten best movies released on DVD in 2010.

  1. “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice” is definitely one of the best movies released on DVD in 2010. Starring Nicolas Cage and Jay Baruchel, a young man named Dave (Baruchel) suddenly finds out that he is a sorcerer and is swept up into a battle between ancient sorcerers. Dave must come to terms with his magic and help Balthazar (Cage) save the world.
  2. “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” In the third installment of “The Twilight Saga,” Victoria is still after Bella and is building an army of newborn vampires to strike against the Cullen’s. For the first time the wolves and vampires unite to fight against a common enemy. Because of the enormous popularity of “The Twilight Saga”, “Eclipse” is one of the best DVDs released in 2010.
  3. “Lottery Ticket” “Lottery Ticket” starring Bow Wow, Brandon T. Jackson and Ice Cube is a story about a kid from the projects who lives with his grandma. He purchases a lottery ticket just for fun and ends up winning $370 million. He spends the rest of the holiday weekend waiting for the lottery ticket claims office to open and avoiding the crazed guy who has it out for him.
  4. “Alice in Wonderland” Director Tim Burton has done it again with “Alice in Wonderland.” This movie puts a darker twist on the classic version. Alice falls down the hole and finds herself in Underland, where the Red Queen is taking over. The legendary scroll shows Alice slaying the jabberwocky, the task that must be done by a champion to save Underland.
  5. “Avatar” Avatar,” starring Sam Worthington, is another must-see. Planet Pandora has bee taken over by the military and scientists from earth. To study the native Avatars, they have created a way for a human to enter at Avatar body of which was created by their own DNA. Jake Sully takes his late twin brother's place in the Avatar study program and finds himself torn between the world of the Avatars and the humans who have taken over their planet.
  6. “Grown Ups” “Grown Ups” is a movie about five friends who all lead very different lives and are brought back together again. Through the death of their beloved coach and a stay at a lake house together, they all come to realize several things in their marriages, their kids and life in general.
  7. “Toy Story 3” “Toy Story 3” by Pixar in another of the best movies released on DVD in 2010. Kids and adults can both enjoy this funny animated kid’s movie. “Toy Story 3” is the third movie in the very popular “Toy Story” series.
  8. “The Blind Side” “The Blind Side” is based on the true story of Michael Oher. A teenage boy from the streets of Memphis ends up homeless and is taken in by a wealthy family. Through various struggles, Michael Oher eventually finds himself playing as a left tackle in the NFL.
  9. “Karate Kid” “Karate Kid,” starring Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan, is very different from the original. This one takes place in China where Dre Parker moves with his mother. After being terrorized by a bully who knows kung fu, he is taken under the wing of the maintenance man who ends up teaching him kung fu.
  10. The Runaways” “The Runaways” is the story of the short lived, all-girl band from the 1970s. Revolving around Joan Jet (Kristen Stewart) and Cherie Curry (Dakota Fanning), this movie does a quick rundown of the ups and downs the teen girls went through before the band split. A must-see DVD released in 2010, especially for classic rock music lovers.
