The Tim Burton movies list includes a collection of  popular fantastical movies. Burton is a master storyteller who brings twisted storylines and tragic characters to life on the big screen. Since beginning his career in the 1980's, this quirky director has repeatedly collaborated actors such as Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter and Christopher Lee. Here are some of his memorable films.

  1. "Edward Scissorhands." In this 1990 Tim Burton movie, Johnny Depp starred as a tender misfit equipped with a pair of razor-sharp hands. The tragedy of the story comes in when Mr. Scissorhands leaves his lair and attempts to fit into a suburban community. No matter how lovable you find this unlucky protagonist, you'll be disinclined to offer a friendly handshake. Snip. Snip.

  2. "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street." Here's another Tim Burton movie that starred Johnny Depp. This time, Depp assumes the role of a barber obsessed with revenge. If you don't find barbers to be threatening, you'll change your mind when you see Mr. Todd lean in for a close shave. The plot of this movie is borrowed from a Broadway musical, which was inspired by a fictional story titled "The String of Pearls: A Romance."

  3. "Batman." The Dark Knight reappeared on the big screen in this 1989 Tim Burton movie. The plot revolves around Batman's attempt to foil the Joker's chemical weapon schemes. Michael Keaton played Batman, and Jack Nicholson played his happy-go-murderous rival. The dark film won numerous awards, including an Oscar for Best Art Direction-Set Decoration.

  4. "Batman Returns." Here he comes again. Michael Keaton returned to his role as the iconic vigilante in this movie by Tim Burton. In this sequel, Batman battles the underhanded Penguin, played by Danny DeVito, who is running for a position as mayor of the city. Catwoman, a vengeful, costumed rival played by Michelle Pfeiffer, adds to the list of Batman's problems.

  5. "Alice in Wonderland." In 2010, Tim Burton took a shot at the classic story of Alice and her journey into Wonderland. In this adventure, Alice must prove that she is, in fact, Alice by slaying the Jabberwocky, the Red Queen's champion. Many popular actors strolled onto the set of this Tim Burton movie, including Anne Hathaway, Johnny Depp and Alan Rickman.
