Kevin Costner is a Lynwood, California-born actor who has been acting in movies since the early 1980s. The sandy blond actor is best known for his roles in movies such as "Dances With Wolves," "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves," "Field of Dreams" and "The Untouchables." Kevin Costner was a particularly popular leading man in movies during the 1990s.

  1. "Dances With Wolves" is a western drama that was released in November of 1990. "Dances With Wolves" was directed by Kevin Costner. In the film, the actor portrays Lieutenant John Dunbar, who gets sent to an isolated western frontier (with nearby Native American tribes) in the 1860s during the Civil War. The cast of the movie includes Mary McDonnell, Graham Greene, Robert Pastorelli and Michael Spears.
  2. "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" is an adventurous action movie that hit theaters in the early summer of 1991. "Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves" centers around Robin Hood (played by Kevin Costner) and his visit to England, where he turns to life as an outlaw. Other stars of the movie are Morgan Freeman, Christian Slater, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Geraldine McEwan and Alan Rickman.
  3. "Field of Dreams" is a fantasy drama that came out in the spring of 1981. "Field of Dreams" is one of the most critically acclaimed Kevin Costner movies, and received three Oscar nods (one of which was for best film). Kevin Costner plays Ray, a Midwestern farmer who invites a baseball team (the Chicago Black Sox) to his surrounding fields by constructing a baseball diamond.
  4. "The Untouchables" is a crime drama that was released in early June of 1987. Apart from Kevin Costner, the movie also stars big name actors like Robert DeNiro, Sean Connery and Andy Garcia. The well-received movie is centered around Kevin Costner's character, Eliot Ness, and his goal to end the corruption of the legendary New York gangster Al Capone.

    Actually, “Field of Dreams” came out in Spring, 1989.
    Other fine Costner movies to see: “A Perfect World” (Directed by Clint Eastwood in 1993); “Tin Cup” (golf-themed movie from 1996); “Thirteen Days” (2000 film about the Cuban Missile Crisis; “Open Range” (2003 Western also starring Robert Duvall and Annette Bening)
