When it came to excitement, the Best Director Oscar Nominees 2010 brought all that they had. Each brought a movie to the table that had audiences captivated. There were five Best Director Oscar Nominees 2010 and the winner was Kathryn Bigelow for “The Hurt Locker.”
Kathryn Bigelow – “The Hurt Locker” follows a group of elite bomb squad members in Iraq. They come up against all sorts of difficult situations and find it tough to trust anyone around them because of the level of potential threat. The film features starts like Jeremy Renner, Ralph Fiennes, and Evangeline Lilly. As one of the Best Director Nominees 2010, she walked away a winner.
James Cameron - “Avatar” was a film that had been in the making for quite some time. Cameron was one of the Best Director Nominees 2010 and earned three Oscars. In the movie, a Marine paraplegic goes to the moon Pandora to take the place of his deceased brother. During this time, he comes into contact with the native people. Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana star in the film.
Quentin Tarantino - “Inglorious Basterds” may have featured one of the Best Director Oscar Nominees 2010 but he is no stranger to nominations. Having won an Oscar, he has also been the recipient of several other wins and nominations. In this film, a set of Jewish American soldiers (known as the Basterds) are sent around the country of France to terrorize Nazi soldiers. Brad Pitt, Melanie Laurent and Christoph Waltz all star in the film.
Lee Daniels - “Precious: Based on the Novel 'Push' by Sapphire” brought Daniels his first Best Director Oscar Nomination 2010. The film, based on a novel, tells the heartbreaking story of Precious, played by Gabourey Sidibe. Living in Harlem she finds herself pregnant for the second time and offered a chance to participate in a school meant to help her get her life back on track. The movie also featured Mo'Nique, Mariah Carey, and Sherri Shepherd.
Jason Reitman – “Up in the Air” puts the talent of one of the Best Director Oscar Nominees 2010 on display for all to see. Reitman and his films have been nominated for six Oscars and had been nominated for and won several others. The story revolves around Ryan Bingham, a man that spends his life traveling and living out of a suitcase without any real ties to anyone. Other notable people in the film include Vera Farmiga as Alex Goran and Anna Kendrick as Natalie Keener.
While Bigelow walked away with the Oscar, each of the Best Director Oscar Nominees 2010 were able to create films that millions of people viewed, enjoyed, and possibly even viewed again.
