The “American Dad” voice actors are a group of individuals who help make the characters come alive by lending their acting talents to the cartoon by way of voices, as opposed to traditional on-screen acting roles. “American Dad” is a cartoon series from the FOX Broadcasting Company and is yet another creative endeavor by Seth MacFarlane of “Family Guy” fame.

The main cast of characters is composed of the following six “American Dad” personalities, who are voiced by five talented actors.

Stan Smith, voiced by Seth MacFarlane.

MacFarlane is the Emmy Award-winning co-creator and executive producer behind “American Dad,” and also the voice actor for two of the main characters. Stan is a CIA agent in Langley, Virginia, who is obsessed with terrorists. He is the head of the household, and is frequently offensive to many people in his hometown for his narrow-minded view of the world.

Francine Smith, voiced by Wendy Schaal.

Stan’s wife is Francine, a sweet woman with a party-girl past who tries to contain her liberated mindset for the sake of her conservative husband. She is voiced by Wendy Schaal, an actress with a background in both drama and comedy films and prior voice acting credits.

Roger, voiced by Seth MacFarlane.

Roger is an alien who lives with the Smith family, though he is far from being the family pet. He uses disguises and whatever manipulative means he can to leave the house, and tends to forget to be appreciative that he was rescued from Area 51. He is also voiced by Seth MacFarlane.

Hayley Smith, voiced by Rachael MacFarlane.

Hayley is the exact opposite of her ultra conservative father, and her liberal agenda often causes conflict between her and Stan. This teenager is played by Seth MacFarlane’s real-life sister, who started as a voice actress on “Family Guy” before joining the “American Dad” cast.

Steve Smith, voiced by Scott Grimes.

Steve is the younger brother of Hayley, and the only member of the Smith family who seems more concerned with popularity than politics. He’s also the geek to Hayley’s hippie. Scott Grimes is a 26-year veteran actor, with credits on a variety of TV shows, such as “ER” and “Party of Five,” in addition to film roles.

Klause, voiced by Dee Bradley Baker.

Klause is the family’s pet goldfish and is the result of a botched CIA experiment—the one which turned him from a human to a fish. He speaks German, lusts after Francine, and is a source of comic relief on “American Dad.” Dee Bradley Baker is an accomplished voice actor with extensive TV show, film and video game credits, from “SpongeBob SquarePants” to “Left 4 Dead 2.”
