It is difficult to pick out the 5 best '80s Arnold Schwarzenegger movies simply because they're all good. It does not seem to matter which character the governator plays. His accent and bulging physique makes Schwarzenegger a very versatile actor for some bizarre reason.

  1. "Conan the Barbarian" "To crush your enemies, to see them driven before you and to listen to the lamentations of their women" was Conan's answer to a question about the best things in life. Schwarzenegger played Conan, a scantily clad killing machine who embarks on a mission of revenge against an evil warlord. The character was created by writer Robert E. Howard in 1932 and first appeared in "Weird Tales" magazine.

  2. "The Running Man" Based on a Stephen King novel, this '80s Arnold Schwarzenegger movie is set in 2019. Convicted prisoners run from professional killers on a reality TV-style game show sponsored by a totalitarian American government. Winners get pardoned from jail. Schwarzenegger plays Ben Richards, a man who was wrongfully convicted of a massacre he was actually trying to stop. After escaping jail, Ben gets caught and coerced into appearing on "The Running Man Show" so his two buddies do not have to.

  3. "The Terminator" Arnold plays a cyborg assassin from 2029 who is sent to 1984 to assassinate Sarah Connor. Of course, he kills the wrong Sarah Connor twice before finding her. This is one of the more exciting Arnold Schwarzenegger movies. There are self-aware artificial intelligence networks with plans of nuclear annihilation and general mayhem you won't want to miss.

  4. "Commando" Arnold plays a retired US special forces commando whose mission is to assassinate an evil warlord. Schwarzenegger's character, John Matrix, defies the laws of physics as a one-man army. This is eerily reminiscent of Rambo movies and "Conan the Barbarian."

  5. "Red Sonja"  A glowing orb under the possession of an evil queen gives its possessor powers to control weather, cause earthquakes and wreak general havoc. The evil queen kills Red Sonja's family and Schwarzenegger's character, Lord Kalidor, joins the mission to help foil the queen and destroy the orb. This is one of the weirdest '80s Arnold Schwarzenegger movies.
