The rankings of the ten richest Hollywood actors vary each year depending on the number of movies they have released. However, although their rankings vary every year, one thing remains constant, their names will appear on the list of either the highest paid or one of the richest in Tinseltown. Forbes Magazine has compiled some of the top Hollywood earners based on conversations with managers, lawyers, producers and agents, as well as checks from ad campaigns.

Johnny Depp. 

Known for quirky roles such as “Edward Scissorhands” and “Ed Wood,” Johnny Depp’s name did not exactly scream gold. But ever since he internalized the role of Captain Jack Sparrow in “Pirates of the Caribbean” and its sequels, Johnny Depp has become one of the highest paid and richest actors in Hollywood. He earned an estimated $75 million from June 2009 to 2010.

Leonardo DiCaprio.

In 2010, Forbes included DiCaprio in the ranks of one of the richest paid Hollywood actors, earning $28 million. In 2008, he earned $45 million. Films such as “Shutter Island” and “Inception” have also added more sparks into DiCaprio’s name, with the latter tailing “Titanic” as his second highest grossing movie.

Daniel Radcliffe. 

A franchise is a gold mine and Daniel Radcliffe tapped into this incessant pool of cash through the “Harry Potter” films. In 2010 alone, he earned $25 million from “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows."


Taylor Lautner. 


As one of the important actors of “Twilight” and its sequels, Taylor Lautner has become of richest Hollywood actors. For his film “Northern Lights” with Tom Cruise, he was paid $7.5 million.


Robert Pattinson. 

He makes girls swoon and is laughing his way to the bank. As the lead actor of “Twilight,” Robert Pattinson earned more than $29 million in 2010. This Brit only began acting in 2006 in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” and has not stopped ever since.

Adam Sandler. 

He earned $55 million in 2009 and $40 million in 2010 and is one of the highest paid comedians in Hollywood. Although his film “Grown Ups” did not fare well in the US market, it made up for worldwide ticket sales estimated at $230 million.

Tom Hanks. 

He earned $45 million from June 2009 to June 2010 according to Forbes Magazine. Besides movies such as “Angels and Demons,” Tom Hanks' roles as producer for TV and film projects, as well as doing voice overs for the “Toy Story” franchise and other animated films have made him one of the richest actors in Hollywood.  

Tom Cruise. 

This poster boy for Scientology has been hailed multiple times as the richest actor in Hollywood. Forbes Magazine estimates Tom Cruise to be worth around $624 million. His “Mission Impossible” franchise guarantees him a stable source of box office revenue.

Brad Pitt.

Named a number of times by People Magazine as one of the sexiest men, Brad Pitt-father to six children and partner to Angelina Jolie-is one of the most in demand, highest paid and richest actors in Hollywood. His 2009 film "Inglourious Basterds" was a critical and box office success, earning an estimated $314 million.

Robert Downey, Jr. 

In 2010, he earned US$22 million from “Sherlock Holmes” and “Iron Man 2.” He used to be the quintessential bad boy as he battled addiction and a flailing career. He has since made up for lost time and earnings by starring in one box office hit after another.
