Who are the 10 best old Indian actors? The answer to this question is subjective, since every fan of Indian cinema has his favorites. But no list would be complete without a mention of these ten legendary Indian actors.

  1. Amitabh Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan, 68, is an Indian actor and producer. One of the most prominent figures in Indian cinema, Bachchan came to fame in the early 1970s. The movie “Zanjeer” established his persona as the “angry young man” of Bollywood films.
  2. Jaya Bachchan. Jaya Bachchan, 62, is an Indian actress and politician. She is also the wife of Amitabh Bachchan. A child actor of the 1960s, Bachchan made her adult acting debut in the 1970s film “Guddi.”
  3. Dharmendra. Dharmendra, 75, is an award-winning Hindi actor. Known as the “Action King” for his many action movies, Dharmendra is considered a living legend. He is best known for the 1970s film and Bollywood classic, “Sholay.”
  4. Rajendra Gupta. Rajendra Gupta (age undetermined) is a famous Indian film, TV, and stage actor. He is known for his television roles in “Chandrakanta,” a popular fantasy series, and “Saaya,” an Indian soap opera.
  5. Amjad Khan. Amjad Khan was a very popular Indian actor and director. He was best known for his villain roles in various Hindi-language films, including the 1970s blockbuster, “Sholay.” Khan died of heart failure in 1993 at the age of 53.
  6. Kulbhushan Kharbanda. Kulbhushan Kharbanda, 64, is another legendary Indian actor. His debut came in 1980, with a role in the Hindi-language film “Shaan.” A critically-acclaimed actor, Kharbanda is known for his work in mainstream cinema.

  9. Harish Patel. Harish Patel (age undetermined) is one of the most famous Indian actors. Best known for his stage performances, Patel has also appeared in Indian comedy films and television series. His most recent film was the 2009 British comedy, “Run, Fatboy, Run.”
  10. Naseeruddin Shah. Naseeruddin Shah, 60, is a well-known Indian actor and director. Considered one of India’s finest actors, he was honored by the Union Government for his contributions to Indian cinema. The 1980 film “Hum Paanch” established Shah as a mainstream Bollywood actor.
