10 Best Male Child Actors

Friday, July 22 by Georgina Spiggott

The 10 best male child actors all starred in different genres of movies, all came from different walks of life and all had a different look to them, but they all have one thing in common: memorable performances in great films.

  1. Macaulay Culkin. Love him or hate him, you have to admit that this kid made an impact during his stint in the 90's. One of the the most successful best male child actor ever. "Home Alone 3" was nothing without him.
  2. Mickey Rooney. Pudgy-faced, adorable and cute. That's how they liked 'em in the 30's and Rooney delivered. Later he proved to be quite the accomplished adult actor as well.
  3. Ron Howard. Before "Happy Days", Ron Howard had a list of successful acting gigs to his credit. Although best remembered for his work on the "Andy Griffith Show," Howard also had performed in a number of movies. One of the few child actors to work pretty steadily during his teens and into adulthood before donning a directors cap.
  4. Haley Joel Osment. Osment won the hearts of theater-goers everywhere with his performance in blockbuster hits like "The Sixth Sense."  We're a sucker for a cute face (and incredible acting talent).
  5. Corey Feldman. Feldman got his start as voice in Disney's "The Fox and the Hound" and his career as a child actor took off from there with parts in "Goonies," "Gremlins" and "The Lost Boys."  These days, Feldman is a little lost himself, but we can always re-live his glory days on DVD.
  6. Corey Haim. The "other" Corey, Haim showed great talent, playing the lead roles in "Silver Bullet" and "Lucas".  Sadly, Haim fell into the trap that most male chlid actors do and was taken from us far too soon.
  7. Edward Furlong. It's not easy to hold your own against Arnold Schwarzenegger but Furlong did just that in 1991's "Terminator 2."   A great male child actor who didn't quite make the successful jump into an adult acting.
  8. Christian Bale. Oh yeah the Dark Knight got his start at a very young age, starring in Spielberg's "Empire of the Sun" and his acting career just took off from there. And yes, we've forgiven him for "Newsies".  You just can't stay mad at Batman.
  9. Jackie Cooper. An original "Little Rascal," Cooper found steady work throughout his entire career. Quite a feat for a young male child actor.
  10. Henry Thomas. Go and watch E.T. again. The cry like a baby. You know you will.
