February 2nd, 2010 at 10:15 am Man, I don't know if I can agree that Avatar was that much of a game changer. It was 3-D done extremely well, but technilogically wasn't THAT different from some other recent 3-D experiments. Of course it was done filtered through Cameron, who unlike Zemeskis and his ilk, has a good head for populist storytelling and The Bottom Line. The technology was used far BETTER, certainly, but it wasn't that much different an experience. His strength is he knows what emotional buttons to press and uses *extreme* shorthand to do it.
