New XXX Movie in The Works

A lot of movies have tried to blend extreme sports with traditional Hollywood shoot-em-ups. But few have been successful. To be fair, the original XXX was a totally absurd movie. But it was also pretty awesome to watch for one reason: Vin Diesel is a badass. And it looks like he's back as Xander Cage once again.

There’s something about Vin that makes ridiculousness totally excusable. He can say and do the most absurd things and we eat it up. No one else can pull it off. So get excited that XXX Part Three is in the works. Yes, part three. The working title (even though there's no script yet) is The Return Of Xander Cage. Rob Cohen is set to direct. There was actually a part two. It had William Defoe and Samuel L. It was a total flop because Xander’s character was played by Ice Cube, who is just not an action star. Here’s the trailer to the original, which is a nice reminder.

It's also worth mentioning that Xander was pronounced dead in part two. Should be interesting to see how they write their way around that one. It's also worth mentioning that this is a trend for Diesel-- appear in the first version of a movie, avoid part two, and come back for a latter version. Just like Fast And Furious.
