December 1st, 2008 at 11:26 am The biggest problem is that all of the subsequent Star Trek programs (with the exception of Starship Enterprise) were too PC in my opinion. I loved the old days where women wore short skirts and Kirk was a womanizer...but of first importance was the ship and crew...
December 1st, 2008 at 01:39 pm I guess I'm in the minority. I liked the other series better than the original. I loved the original as a kid, but rewatching them makes me cringe! but that being said, i'm a big fan of "lost" and "cloverfield" - though i find "fringe" good but not great - so i am looking forward to this reboot of the original star trek.

I might argue that the first couple of seasons of Next Generation weren't all that PC, actually. Sure, Picard wasn't a womanizer, but Riker sure as shit was. Anytime he grinned at a woman, I had to turn my TV off in order to clean the grease from it.
In addition, the original Star Trek had its share of preachy-PC "can't we all get along" moments; the most notorious being the Frank Gorshin half-black half-white guy where their whole planet was in jeopardy because it somehow mattered which side of your body was white and which side was black.
