As April 30th grows closer, New Line is beginning their full-on marketing push for Platinum Dunes re-imagining of A Nightmare on Elm Street. This week has given us an onslaught of promotion. By this point we've seen a teaser, behind-the-scenes footage, stills, and now this second trailer. The first trailer offered bits of Freddy's backstory and a glimpse of Jackie Earle Haley in the makeup. This time around we get a good look at the nightmare sequences themselves, though not that great of a look at Krueger. I'll have what she's having.A handful of new stills from the upcoming A Nightmare On Elm Street remake have appeared online and it turns out that Freddy won't just only be running his claws along walls and pipes for dramatic effect. Yeah, we get it. He's proud of that glove. Smelting and soldering are hard. $Behind The Scenes of \'A Nightmare On Elm Street\' Remake$

I'm not sure if I should be eager about the upcoming remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street. Given the track record of recent genre rehashes and reports of reshoots and studio interference, it could go either way. Still there's a part of me that wants this film to be really good and by the looks of this behind the scenes footage, that may well be the case. This featurette, included on The Final Destination's DVD release (a movie so bad that I'd sooner barf lava than watch it again), shows Jackie Earle Haley in full-on Freddy mode. Freddy Krueger Figure Will Haunt Your Dreams

Here's a first look at the new Freddy Kreuger figure fashioned by NECA. Click on the image to get a bigger view. Unfortunately it won't be available before the holidays, so you can't give it to mom, but Randy Falk of NECA says, "We are working on figures from the remake of Nightmare on Elm Street and at least two figures will be out for the release of the film with possibly more to follow." A Nightmare on Elm Street opens in theaters on April 30, 2010. Reenactments of the film using the Freddy Kreuger figure will follow soon after in homes around the country. (via ComingSoon) More...

There's always been a special place in my heart for the A Nightmare On Elm Street series, even the crappy ones to some degree. I was extremely jealous when the teaser launched all those months ago at Comic Con and I did not get to attend. Since then I have been wishing for the day that it would arrive online. That day is finally here. Below, check out the trailer for Samuel Bayer's remake of Wes Craven's classic. It looks like a solid update and based upon descriptions from a friend closer to the production, we're all in for a treat. The only way this could be improved is with a Chris Hansen cameo. The other week, we spent a whole feature speculating which actress would/should take over the role of heroine Nancy Thompson in Platinum Dunes and Sam Bayer's A Nightmare on Elm Street remake. Well, now Bloodydisgusting reports that actress Rooney Mara is in negotiations to do just that.Judging by Mara's credits, which include a couple episodes of "E.R." and the upcoming Youth in Revolt with Michael Cera, the negotiations probably involved Platinum Dunes calling up Mara's representation, Mara's representation calling Mara into a meeting to tell her, Mara hesitating for a nanosecond to take in what this will mean for her career, Mara's representation slapping Mara hard across the face (probably back-handed for emphasis), and then Mara taking the gig and agreeing to also schlep coffee and wax the producer's car when she's not shooting a scene - SAG rules be damned. This afternoon, BloodyDisgusting broke the news that actor Jackie Earle Haley is in final talks to play Freddy Krueger in Sam Bayer's update of A Nightmare on Elm Street, and that we can expect an official announcement as early as next week. (Shooting begins at the end of this month in Chicago.) This is some inspired casting. Haley has proven himself time and again in the twisted character roles. No matter what camp you fall into with Watchmen, you can't deny Haley as Rorschach was the best part about the film. And his turn as Ronnie the pedophile in Little Children is nothing short of brilliant. Every time I do my impression of Ronnie masturbating in the car, my girlfriend cries.
