It would appear that Flea has lost his way. The Red Hot Chili Peppers, who were brought in to the Bruno Mars halftime show to appeal the an older rock demographic, busted on stage to perform "Give It Away."

Their exuberance and energy was partially negated by the fact that their instruments weren't plugged in, which means they were running around and pantomiming the same way you do when "Give It Away" comes on. Oops.

No one really operates under the delusion that there's any element of musicianship to the Super Bowl halftime show, but at least play the part for the kids. I mean, you'd think a 30 year-old rock band would want a little credibility there.

In other sobering news, it was revealed that Bruno Mars was wearing a lot of makeup during his performance. Sad, but not surprising.
