Robert Downey Jr. Wants To Put Jodie Foster And Mel Gibson In ‘The Avengers’

You're not gonna charm your way through this one, Rob.

Robert Downey Jr., a man who is no stranger to redeeming comebacks, is reportedly angling to get Mel Gibson into the next Avengers film. No details were given about how Gibson would participate, but I think it might be unlikely that the highest-grossing franchise of all time (eventually) would tinker with a very winning formula by including a guy who’s known for his anti-semitism and the term “sugartits.”

An unnamed source for Radar said:

“But Robert is raising eyebrows with his efforts on behalf of his longtime best pals Jodie Foster and Mel Gibson,” the source revealed. “He wants to bring Mel and Jodie into the Marvel universe, preferably in one of the Avengers films. It’s been a longtime dream of Robert’s to help Mel and Jodie reach similar big box office heights like the ones he’s achieved in recent years.”

Also, he wants to put Jodie Foster in the Avengers for some reason. I’m not sure what her redemption angle would be, but it probably would have something to do with that bizarre Golden Globes speech she gave last year.

Oh. Marvel is owned by an Israeli Jew, so this probably wouldn’t happen in a million years, but it’s nice to know RDJ sticks up for his friends, even in a pretty misguided fashion.
