There have been a lot of stories lately about Steven Spielberg setting up shop with a massive Bollywood studio. Today there is news of an Abu-Dhabi based firm looking to invest around a billion dollars in film projects, a lot of it going to Hollywood. I’m sure it will prove the age-old adage: the surest way to become a millionaire is to come to Hollywood as a billionaire.  Maybe.

All I’m saying is that China now manufactures everything. India does anything that has to do with programming and already does more in yearly movie sales. Now Abu Dhabi is going to run the movie business? What are we going to be left with? This might be one of those times where it wouldn’t hurt to protect what we sell. And plus, I don’t want to review movies where everyone ends up dancing in the end.
