Michael Douglas has signed on to play our nation's sexiest president, Ronald Reagan, in the film Reykjavik. The project once had Ridley Scott attached to direct, but now the director has decided he'd rather merely produce because director's chairs hurt his lower back. Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) is now in talks to take the helm.

The film takes place in the days following the Cherbobyl disaster and centers around conversations had between Reagan and Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev while they took a spa vacation together in Iceland to begin considering peace between their nations. That would mean this movie is set in 1986, which means Reagan's former co-star Bonzo the Chimp won't factor into the story. So, Andy Serkis's agent can stop leaving so many voicemails. (THR)
