Amber Heard Rides Shotgun in Nic Cage's 'Drive Angry'

DRIVE ANGRY | Reviews | Videos | Forum | News | Photos
March 1, 2010, 9:57 am

National hero Amber Heard will be stretching her acting abilities to the brink of snapping by pretending to be attracted to Nicolas Cage in the upcoming Drive Angry. Cage plays a crazy, road-ragin' grandpa on the hunt for those who murdered his daughter and kidnapped his grandbaby. Heard will play a diner employee who joins Cage during the high octane rampage. The splatterfest is being directed by My Bloody Valentine 3D's Patrick Lussier and, yes, it will be in ass-puckering 3D.

This 3D craze is really pushing itself too far. Nicolas Cage popping off-screen is terrifying enough to clear a theater. It would be like showing Encino Man a documentary about the railroads. (THR)

Nic Cage and Ryan Reynolds Cast as Cavemen in 'The Croods'

Dreamworks has hired the voices of Nicolas Cage and Ryan Reynolds for an upcoming caveman comedy. The film was being developed at Aardman Animations with the name Crood Awakenings but is now simply called The Croods. Why change it? Both names conjure the image of diarrhea equally. Hey! Here's the plot:

“An old school caveman must lead his family across a volatile prehistoric landscape in search of a new home. The outsized flora and fauna are challenge enough, but the real complication arises when the family is joined by an alarmingly modern caveman whose search for “tomorrow” is at odds with our hero’s reliance on the traditions of yesterday.”

Cage will play the cave-dad while Reynolds voices the modern caveman who charms Cage's daughter. Sounds like a snake's oil salesman, if you ask me. Then again, snake's oil had a lot of practical uses back in those days, the main one being a lubricant. He had it all figured out, that snake's oil salesman. (Variety)

'The Sorcerer's Apprentice' Trailer

THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE | Reviews | Videos | Forum | News | Photos
December 9, 2009, 9:55 am

Nicolas Cage loooooooves fake hair. We recently posted The Season of the Witch trailer, in which Cage dons flowing locks of stringy fibers, and it appears he continues the trend in the new trailer for The Sorcerer's Apprentice. There's CG magic abound in the Disney film, and Jay Barachul in disbelief of most of it. I have to say though, the dragon stuff is pretty cool. I mean, it's no Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor, because that "film" was clearly Rob Cohen jerkin' it in front of a mirror, so maybe Apprentice can give CG dragons the recognition they deserve.

Witness Nic Cage's Flowing Locks in 'Season Of The Witch' Trailer

SEASON OF THE WITCH | Reviews | Videos | Forum | News | Photos
November 20, 2009, 4:00 pm

Not to be confused with the crappy Halloween sequel of the same name, Season Of The Witch is a new gothic, thriller starring Sir Nicolas Cage and Ron Perlman. The large-headed duo portray knights on a mission to bring a violent witch to an abbey for dewitchification and the witch is all like, "No. No. No." It's the Middle Ages equivalent of bringing Amy Winehouse to rehab.

Check out the trailer after the jump.

'Kick-Ass' Teaser Promises Some Serious Kickings Of Ass

KICK-ASS | Reviews | Videos | Forum | News | Photos
November 11, 2009, 4:41 am

If you're having trouble deciding what to dress up as this Thanksgiving, the Kick-Ass teaser has debuted just in time with ample options. The movie follows Aaron Johnson's Kick-Ass, a DIY hero who lacks superpowers but carries two big sticks. Also glimpsed in this trailer are Chloe Moretz as Hit Girl, Nicolas Cage as Big Daddy, and McLovin as Red Mist. I'm hoping this movie is as good as everyone purports it to be. As of right now, I am worried that we've got another Zombieland on our hands.

Check out the trailer after the jump.

NIC CAGE DID NOT HIRE A VOODOO PRIESTESS

June 11, 2009, 5:50 am

While talking with HitFix, Nicolas Cage eschewed the rumors that he hired a Voodoo Priestess to remove a curse from the set of Sorcerer's Apprentice. Of course he didn't hire a voodoo woman to remove a curse from his set. He hired her because she has the best weed.
