HBO refuses to falter in its attempts to overtake our Sunday nights. Yesterday we showed you the new trailer for David Simon's "Treme" and today we have a longer look at the Terrence Winter and Martin Scorsese period drama "Boardwalk Empire." Set in Prohibition-era Atlantic City, it's an old timey look at gambling and gangsters starring Steve Buscemi as Nucky Thompson, the real life crime boss who ruled A.C. with an iron fist and distended eyeballs. Think of it as "Deadwood" with running water and Omar from "The Wire."

Have a look at Atlantic City's glory days before it was claimed by the elderly, after the jump.

Martin Scorsese has been busy casting his adaptation of the children's fantasy tale The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Sacha Baron Cohen and Ben Kingsley are in talks to sign on as a train station investigator and famed silent filmmaker George Méliès respectively. Asa Butterfield (The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas) has been hired to portray the lead character, who lives in the walls of a Paris train station while trying to repair his dead father's robotic invention. Up and comer Chloe Moretz is also signed on for the female lead role of Isabelle. Man, between Kick-Ass and Let Me In, 13-year old Chloe Moretz is soooo hot right now. Like, really really hot. I didn't mean it like that, guys. Oh, come on. *sigh* Alright. I'll go warn my neighbors about me. (Deadline)

'Shutter Island' Superbowl Spot

Shutter Island Superbowl Spot - Watch more Funny Videos

Here's an early leak of the Superbowl spot for Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island. This spot does away with the slow build we've seen in the others and jumps right into the psyche-bending action. It looks unlike anything Scorsese has done before and seems like it could be an entertaining winter film.

It was also announced that there will be no TV spot for Iron Man 2 during this year's Superbowl. With that in mind, I'm not sure why Paramount would release this before the big game. It seems like it will have little competition. I guess their logic is to build a little additional buzz in the hopes that some extra eyes will see it. Either that or they're helping us all plan our pee breaks. If so, thanks!!

Martin Scorsese Brings 'The Invention of Hugo Cabret' to the Screen

"Somebody tell Pesci to get off my wife's leg."

Martin Scorsese is reteaming with producer Graham King (The Departed) to adapt The Invention of Hugo Cabret as his next project after Shutter Island. The Brian Selznick book is being adapted by John Logan and tells the story of a 12-year old orphan who lives in a Parisian train station who tries to fix his dead father's broken robot.

I'm interested to see what Scorsese does with this youth-slanted source material. Up until this point, children have had to rely on Sesame Street characters acting out scenes from Casino if they want to enjoy the director's work.

Man, that Ernie is not to be f*cked with. (Variety)

Leo Tries to Solve Who Dealt It in Final 'Shutter Island' Poster

Leonardo DiCaprio scowls in the new mystery Who Farted? The Motion Picture Talkie. Just kidding, you guys. Martin Scorsese didn't make a movie about someone farting. Though if he did, smart money would have Max von Sydow being the culprit. He seems like the type.

This poster is nearly identical to the earlier poster with a few hardly noticeable changes. Mainly they spruced up the color to make it less dismal and depressing. Afterall, the last thing I want to be is bummed out when I see a movie about pyschologically crippled people stuffed into cages against their will. (CHUD)

SCORSESE'S 'SHUTTER ISLAND' GETS A TRAILER

Martin Scorsese's newest film, Shutter Island, a drama set in an insane asylum got a new trailer today and... well... it looks suitably insane.  Some may say it's off-the-hook insane.  Those people would possibly be using a combination of hyperbole and street slang.  Check out the trailer after the jump and see star Leonardo DiCaprio descend into the deepest, darkest bowels of madness, where even Michelle Williams manages to still look really hot.
