Joss Whedon is looking for a few big nerds. The Buffy/Dollhouse/Dr. Horrible creator is currently searching for three fanboys or fangirls for an upcoming documentary about San Diego Comic-Con and nerd culture. He and Super-Size Me director/star Morgan Spurlock want to follow their subjects around for the three months leading up to this year's convention. Why they want three months worth of masturbating to anime footage is well beyond me.

Filming is sure to be hectic on convention day when the crew loses Whedon due to his instantaneous blending in with the crowd. He's like a nerd chameleon. In all earnestness, this seems like a unique look at a growing counter-culture. I am a little bummed though that Spurlock will not be upping the ante of his previous works by remaining a virgin and living in his parent's basement for 30 years. (E!)

CLEVELAND FROM FAMILY GUY - Watch more Funny Videos

The panel for the "The Family Guy" spinoff "The Cleveland Show" didn’t have as much hype as the panels that were premiering big movie trailers or had anything remotely to do with either Lost or Twilight.  What it did bring, however, was laughs, and lots of them.  Instead of rambling, the group of panelists, which included Seth Macfarlane, Mike Henry, Jamie Kennedy, and the rest of the principal cast, let the show speak for itself, showing an extended clip of the pilot and a clip of an episode airing in December...

Fellow Junkies,

Comic-Con has come and gone, as has Screen Junkies from San Diego.  It was our first ever trip down to Comic-Con and it will not be our last, but we learned a lot.  Mostly, we learned that you have to surrender to the fact that you can't cover EVERYTHING at Comic-Con.  Here's everything we DID cover:

AVATAR
Video clips of James Cameron speaking about AVATAR just moments after having unveiled 25-minutes of the film to Hall H @ Comic-Con.

EXTRACT Panel @ Comic-Con Pt. 1 - Watch Movie Trailers

After the promising SOLOMON KANE presentation in Hall H, the crowd at Comic-Con was buzzing for geek legend Mike Judge to make a return to his OFFICE SPACE form with his latest flick, EXTRACT.  He was joined on stage by cast members Jason Bateman and Mila Kunis, as well.  Comedienne du jour Kristen Wiig could not make it because of filming commitments in New Mexico.  To Bateman's credit, he was running on an hour's worth of sleep, having just wrapped on the same shoot at 5am, which, it's safe to say, is Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Greg Mottola's alien comedy PAUL...

LOST: THE FINAL SEASON @ COMIC-CON

By 9am, the line outside Hall H for the LOST: THE FINAL SEASON panel with co-creators Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse was already 1000+ fans deep, and the presentation wasn't until 11am.  But the 6000+ fans that eventually made it inside were in for a real treat.  Cuse and Lindelof came armed with tons of clips and almost equal amounts of special guests, and didn't disappoint even the hardcores that had been camping outside the San Diego Convention Center's Hall H since the night before.

After a montage of some of the creators' favorite LOST-related fan films, Cuse and Lindelof showed the audience a very well done promo for a fake throwback show that supposedly aired in the 80s, and which covered the mysterious Dharma Initiative that is such a huge part of the LOST mythology:

Alls I gots ta say is... let's get Avatarded in here!  We just got out of the AVATAR press conference with none other than James Cameron, and raced back to a quiet place so we could squeal like schoolgirls... and upload these videos of the visionary director talking earnestly about his project.

The huge news revealed today is that on August 21st - "Avatar Day" - select movie theaters and online outlets will be screening 15 minutes of the film for FREE.  That's how confident Twentieth Century Fox and Cameron must be about their product.  In fact, rumor has it that Fox head Tom Rothman cried like a baby during the screening in the San Diego Convention Center's Hall H*.

* Not true.

So settle in and enjoy Mr. Cameron wax on about his little movie.

PART 1:  Cameron on the film's character design.
