Battlestar GalacticaBRYAN SINGER REBOOTING 'BATTLESTAR'GENERAL - MOVIES | Recaps | Videos | Forum | News | PhotosAugust 13, 2009, 5:12 am
Bryan Singer is in talks to bring a big screen version of Battlestar Galactica to theaters. Originally he was set to develop the television series reboot in 2001 but was c-blocked by the Taliban. The gig later went to Ron Moore and the rest is history. No word yet on the creative direction of the feature but let's hope it wraps up a little tighter than the new series did. I find it kind of odd that Universal is already rebooting a franchise that practically just completed its successful run. If this is the new norm, can we get a do-over on Transformers 2? (Hit Fix) Check out these morning links before they get remade... The Goods character posters are good. (Cinematical) Poltergeist remake actually coming to theaters. (/Film) New Dexter promo artwork. (Dread Central) Check out a clip of Timothy Olyphant in Lawman. (Cinema Blend) Facebook gets Ed Helms in over his head. (Latino Review)

I bet the two ex-Genesis frontmen had no idea they'd be singing about "Battlestar Galactica." SCI FI Wire posted an exclusive trailer for the BSG spinoff movie called The Plan, which they claim "will likely come out on DVD and will also air this fall—recaps the story of the destruction of the human Colonies from the point of view of the Cylons." Screen Junkies' resident BSG expert, Jim "Bad Mother Frakker" Connelly expressed his concern over what the toll this film will take on the lives of all Battlestar fans. Said Connelly, "[I'm] worried EJO is right, and that it'll spur rewatching the whole series again!" I'm guessing Connelly's EJO is Edward James Olmos and not the Electronic Journal of Oncology. The latter did have a great article on smoking and polymorphism in xenobiotic metabolizing enzymes, though. What say you, fans? Would rewatching the entire series be that bad? First, he followed his long-time unrequited (probably) crush on Gaius Baltar right into Baltar's decadent and ultimately disastrous reign as President on New Caprica. Then, despite the fact that he was a key figure in giving the Resistance crucial information, he is nearly airlocked by a Tigh-led outlaw tribunal for being a traitor. Finally, in the midst of an unsuccessful mutiny against a seemingly crazy Starbuck, who is leading a fat-chance recon mission to find a clue to Earth, he is shot in the leg by Samuel T. Anders, and eventually gets it amputated. More... |
